Temporary Bridges

Temporary & Portable Bridge Solutions
When the route ends, EcoAxis helps build the crossing.
Some access problems need more than ground protection mats. When a project needs to cross a creek, ditch, ravine, wetland, washout, damaged structure, or environmentally sensitive area, a temporary bridge can provide the safe crossing needed to keep people, vehicles, and equipment moving.
EcoAxis can support temporary and portable bridge requirements through our access solutions network, including Northern Mat & Bridge products. These bridge systems are used for construction access, civil infrastructure, utility work, resource roads, municipal roads, detours, emergency access, pedestrian crossings, and remote projects.
Temporary bridges may be available for short-term access, longer-term project use, or permanent applications depending on the site requirements.
Best for:
Creek crossings, ditch crossings, wetland crossings, detour bridges, resource roads, municipal bridge replacement, pipeline crossings, work bridges, emergency access, pedestrian access, and remote site access.

Bridge Options
EcoAxis can help source practical bridge solutions based on span, traffic type, site conditions, access requirements, and project duration.
Low Profile All-Steel Bridges
A durable all-steel bridge option suited for sites where minimal earthworks and end fill are preferred. These are useful for detours, wetland crossings, condemned structure bypasses, and sensitive access areas.
Typical uses:
Detour bridges, wetland crossings, damaged structure bypasses, creeks, rivers, small valleys, and environmentally sensitive crossings.
Standard Steel Portable Bridges
A heavy-duty portable bridge option with a timber deck supported by a rigid steel structure. These are suited for temporary or permanent road construction, pipeline crossings, work bridges, detours, and project access.
Typical uses:
Construction access, temporary roads, pipeline crossings, work bridges, detour routes, and heavy equipment access.
Modular Portable Bridges
A modular bridge option for longer spans, limited-access locations, wetlands, or challenging installation areas. Modular systems can be useful where a one-piece bridge is not practical.
Typical uses:
Wetlands, multi-span crossings, remote sites, temporary roads, work bridges, and access routes with installation constraints.
Resource, Municipal & Pedestrian Bridges
Bridge options may also be available for low-volume resource roads, rural municipal access, pedestrian crossings, trails, recreational routes, and light vehicle access.
Typical uses:
Forestry roads, mining access, rural roads, municipal bridge replacement, trails, parks, ATVs, snowmobiles, side-by-sides, and pedestrian routes.
Where Temporary Bridges Fit
Temporary bridges are often used alongside EcoAxis ground protection and matting systems. A site may need Isotrack mats or timber mats for the access road, then a bridge for the crossing itself.
EcoAxis can help customers look at the full access route, including:
- Ground protection mats
- Temporary roads
- Timber mats
- Wetland access
- Work platforms
- Load distribution
- Temporary bridge crossings
The goal is to create a safe, practical access path from start to finish.
Need to Cross Something?
Send us the project location, approximate span, traffic type, equipment requirements, timeline, and any site photos. EcoAxis can help identify whether a temporary bridge, portable bridge, or combined matting-and-bridge access solution may be the right fit.
